Anywhere in the world, basketball is great for building friendships with blokes! Wanting to do just that, we turned up one day to a training. There is only one team in the city so it wasn't difficult to join in. Training three times a week, our friendships with the guys grew. For months we heard about, practised for and waited for an upcoming competition. Then, with 8 hours notice, we were told a bus would take us to the Capital at 5 in the morning. After a week of tournament games, playing for a shot at the National League, we lost in the semi-finals. The time with the guys, however, and the trip was not wasted. Many conversations contained a great deal of discussion both of the Gospel and of Islam. This in turn, produced some great opportunities to talk about Jesus and we were also able to pass on the book of Luke to someone who requested it. We’re using a game we love to build friendships with our brothers…will you?
